Art Direction: Retail sector: Bespoke print illustration
Right Track Music asked Hairyhand to create a bespoke print illustration for a folding DL Leaflet which would kick off a new advertising campaign.
The strategy behind the message was to position RTM as a ‘friendly guide’ through the journey that learning a musical instrument can be.
I worked with the client to create the campaign message, then set about Art Directing a visual that would communicate the message. I wanted to make the journey to look challenging, without being scary, so I took inspiration from some of the work of Salvador Dali and made the musical instruments look warped to help create a surreal landscape to help reinforce the journey metaphor.
The client supplied the text, then once the design was finalised, it was printed digitally on a silk stock to help the rich colour stand out.
